The specialist congress for energy & climate management

Energy management - from a peripheral topic to a central business process

In keeping with tradition, numerous users of our customers and companions of our partner companies came together in Nuremberg on November 6, 2024 to discuss the current situation in the field of energy & climate management at this year's IngSoft InterWatt User Conference. The development of energy management from a former marginal topic to a central business process was a particular focus this year. In addition, exciting specialist presentations from the field on the topics of VALERI, intracting and energy management in the real estate sector enriched the multifaceted event day.

We started with a look into the future: on the evening before the event, we invited our participants to a guided tour of the Museum of the Future in Nuremberg. There, we discussed together how new technologies and AI could change our world and what opportunities this will bring for the energy and climate sectors, among others. Afterwards, there was time for a relaxed arrival and initial discussions over dinner.

The next day, the doors finally opened to the IngSoft InterWatt User Conference 2024. We welcomed a total of 115 guests online and on site this year - a new attendance record!

Moderator Nils Hupp gallantly guided us through a varied day of events, which started with a keynote speech by Managing Director Karsten Reese. He highlighted the current market and legal situation in the field of energy & climate management and the increasing compliance requirements in the field of information security, as enforced by the implementation of the NIS 2 directive, among other things.

Afterwards, Dipl.-Ing. Jan Köster from the University of Kassel gave an exciting insight into the topic of "Continuously increasing energy efficiency by implementing the intracting model". Sebastian Tenholt from Müller Beckmann GmbH, who presented the topic "Evaluation of energy-related investments (VALERI)", provided further exciting impulses from practice. Oliver Schulz from EnMaS Deutsche Servicegesellschaft für Energiemanagement mbH also shared his knowledge of building portfolio management and energy monitoring with the guests in his presentation "Efficient energy management for the real estate sector".

Of course, our IngSoft InterWatt software was not neglected either: Nicole Thiemer gave an overview of the various innovations in IngSoft InterWatt, including the new "master data widget" or "mass status changes in the event of anomalies". Particularly pleasing: Our development department was able to significantly increase its output: Compared to the previous year, 30 percent more innovations were realized in the software.

In view of the increasing requirements in the area of compliance and information security, a presentation on the topic of IT security in energy and climate management, which took place in interdisciplinary cooperation between the specialist areas of information security, development, product management and IT, was also a must.

As security requirements increase, so will the number of software updates in the future. In his presentation "Continuous Deployment with Microsoft Software Installation (MSI)", Martin Negele therefore gave an outlook on how the update process will be simplified in future for customers who operate IngSoft InterWatt on their own server.

Dorothee Birnkammer and Anton Keil concluded a successful day at the event with their presentation on software innovations in the field of climate management in general and with a focus on "municipal greenhouse gas balancing according to BISKO".

We would like to thank all those who contributed to the success of the event - first and foremost our speakers. Special thanks also go to our colleagues who worked so hard on the technical realization of the hybrid event.
